PharmD Pathway: International Pharmacy Graduates

• A Pharm.D., Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Pharmacy, or equivalent degree within native country allowing practice of pharmacy.
• Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Send an email to the Director of Admissions, Lori Berg, at lori.berg@wne.edu indicating the desire to transfer into the WNE PharmD program, and include an unofficial evaluation from one of the approved agencies listed below. Once the evaluation has been reviewed, applicants meeting the requirements will be directed to submit their full application through PharmCAS.

Once the application and all materials are submitted to PharmCAS, the Director of Admissions will complete an initial review of the evaluation. If the applicant qualifies to move forward, they will receive an email invitation to participate in an online interivew.

If the candidate is accepted into the program, the following information must be provided prior to matriculation into the program:

• An official course by course evaluation from one of the approved agencies:
  • World Education Services (WES)
  • Foundation for International Services (FIS)
  • Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE)
  • Span Tran

• Course syllabi for all Pharmacy courses (appearing on the list of courses below), if available:
  • Immunology
  • Biochemistry
  • Pharmaceutics/Lab
  • Pharmaceutical Calculations
  • Pathophysiology
  • Principles of Genetics and Genomics
  • Pharmacokinetics
  • Medicinal Chemistry
  • Pharmacology
  • Pharmacy Outcomes
  • Pharmacy Ethics
  • Drug Literature Evaluation

The program spans four years, but there may be a lighter workload during the first three semesters due to possible credit transfers. The precise amount of credit transfers will be determined after the submission and evaluation of all relevant documents. International students must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits each semester.

*Please note that the transfer of courses from your previous institution is not guaranteed. If a student has graduated within the past 10 years, each case will be reviewed individually to determine the transferability of courses. 

It is necessary to have a US Social Security number to become a Pharmacy intern. While the university will provide the required documents, obtaining the Social Security number is the applicant's responsibility. The University cannot guarantee its acquisition, and the applicant must obtain it before starting experiential coursework.

Once accepted, students will receive an individualized academic plan, detailing the necessary courses for completion. It is essential to mention that, once endorsed and confirmed by the applicant, the academic plan won't be reconsidered. The tuition fees will be calculated according to the academic plan and may fluctuate based on the amount of transferred coursework. Part-time students (less than 12 credits) are billed tuition at a per-credit rate.

Based on the USCIS policies, international students need to be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits each semester.

Only full-time students who register for more than 12 credit hours per semester have access to scholarships. The scholarship amount awarded will be determined by the student’s previously attained GPA at their former institution. 

On-campus housing and meal plans are available and will be assigned based on their availability and the institution’s guidelines.
