Western New England University Professors Mutigwe and Durr to Present at Boston FinTech Week 2021

Western New England University (WNE) College of Business Professors Dr. Charles Mutigwe and Dr. Wayne Durr will participate as presenters at Boston FinTech Week, the largest, free, hybrid fintech event in the world on September 28 to October 1, 2021. The theme of the virtual conference is "Financial Services for Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere.”

Dr. Mutigwe will lead two presentations focusing on industry-aligned Fintech teaching, pedagogy, and research: “WNE – Preparing Students for a Career in FinTech Through Experiential and Engaged Learning” and “WNE – Behavioral FinTech Research in the Age of Twitter and Reddit”. Dr. Mutigwe is an Assistant Professor of Business Information Systems at Western New England University. He teaches courses in enterprise analytics, business processes and information management, and database management systems. Dr. Mutigwe has over 25 years of work experience in the IT industry. His research interests are in data science, artificial intelligence, FinTech, and RFID systems.

Dr. Durr will be participating in a panel discussion called “Choose your own adventure: Fintech Education in Boston”, a student-centered academic panel addressing career opportunities for students in the FinTech sector. A US Army veteran with several years of financial experience, Dr. Durr is a Professor of Business and Finance at Western New England University. Dr. Durr is the faculty advisor for WNE's Investment Club and the Faculty Advisor for WNE's Fed Challenge Team and the CFA Challenge Team. His expertise is in finance, business, and supply chain. In addition to teaching, Dr. Durr is a business consultant working with established businesses to improve their financial health, valuations, and supply chain operations. A Corporate Finance Coach for the CVS Corporation, Durr is an Angel Investor, abday trader, and a cryptocurrency investor and miner.

The four-day gathering is presented by FinTech Sandbox, a nonprofit organization that promotes innovation in financial technology and financial services globally by providing FinTech entrepreneurs and startups with access to critical data and resources.
